Tornado ‘touched down with a vengeance’ in Conway, Goshen,

The tornado touched down with “vengeance,” the National Weather Service said on Monday morning.

The weather service reported that the EF1 tornado first touched down in Goshen at 7:18 p.m. It then headed to Conway from 7:20 to 7:25 p.m. Winds reached 100 to 110 mph on Main Poland and Whately roads.

 

The twister struck between 7 and 8 p.m., according to the weather service. 7:29pm?????

An EF-1 tornado can pack winds of at least 86 and up to 110 miles per hour.

Car rental I made at Atlanta airport to pickup my daughter at Orlando airpot.

 

I visualized this accident on I-75 in route to Orlando Florida.

 

I got stuck in traffic on I-75 for over two hours, shortly after entering the state of  Florida, due to the pedestrian / car accident which follows. I doubled back and took a detour route through Jasper Florida.

JASPER — A pedestrian tried to cross the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 was struck by four vehicles and was pronounced deceased in Hamilton County on Saturday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Charles Burton, 46, of New Glarus, Wis., tried to cross the southbound lanes near mile marker 455, just north of the Jasper and Live Oak exit of I-75 for an unknown reason according to the FHP report. Burton’s vehicle was parked on the northbound side of the interstate, the report states.

Cody Fulmer, 24, of Soddy Daisy, Tenn., was driving his 2012 Ford Focus south in the left lane when the victim walked into his path, according to the report. The Focus’ front right side struck the victim where he then was thrown into the center lane, the report states.

There, Leonard Sheridan, 33, of Live Oak, swerved left but struck the victim with the front right side of his 2000 Pontiac Firebird, according to the report. The Firebird front bumper then struck the guardrail, the report states, and came to a stop in the roadway.

Michael Brazile, 46, of Akron, Ohio, who was following Sheridan in the center lane, then hit the victim with his 2003 Infinity, the report states, causing disabling damage. The Infinity stopped on the right shoulder facing south, according to the report.

Also in the center lane was the 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis of Willie Johnson, 50, of Shellman, Ga., the report states. Johnson tried to swerve left but also struck the victim and then the front bumper of the Mercury struck the rear bumper of Sheridan’s Pontiac, causing disabling damage, according to the report, before coming to a stop on the right shoulder facing west. The Firebird stopped in the left lane facing east, the report states.

Cristopher Cates, 63, of Morton, Ill., was in the left lane with his 2011 Toyota Camry and struck the rear of the Pontiac which was stopped in that lane, causing disabling damage according to the report. Cates stopped in the roadway facing north, while the Pontiac stopped facing east.

Johnson suffered serious injuries, according to the report, and was taken to Shands at the University of Florida. No other drivers were injured, according to the report, nor were pedestrians Taylor Barfield, 23, of Soddy Daisy, Tenn., Kata Sheridan, 31, of Live Oak, or Marlon Allen, 25, of Akron, Ohio.

Charges are pending investigation, the report states.

TERROR IN SWEDEN: CHEMICAL ATTACK ON TRAIN CHOKES PASSENGERS

The attack happened on a subway train at Sankt Eriksplan station in Stockholm, where emergency services rushed to the scene.

One passenger onboard said commuters were left in a state of panic, most suffering from breathing problems and others desperately rushing for the exits.

Reports initially stated the man threw a rucksack into the carriage, but Swedish police have confirmed it was a noxious liquid instead – the motives behind the incident or the identity of the man involved are not yet known.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — At least one person was injured Thursday afternoon when a pickup truck crashed into a Centro bus in Syracuse.
A truck struck the side of a bus around 2 p.m. on Park Street between Hiawatha Boulevard East and Farmers Market Place, according to Onondaga County 911 dispatch logs and police scanner reports. At least one person was injured, according to police scanner reports.

San Jose drowns: 50,000 people are told to leave their homes as entire neighborhoods sink under water after worst floods for 100 years

14,000 residents are subject to a mandatory order while the rest have been given an advisory to leave

The floods are the latest in a string of emergency situations triggered by severe winter weather in California

Entire San Jose neighborhoods were entirely submerged by water on Wednesday after the worst floods for 100 years.
50,000 people were told to flee their homes dramatically after evacuation warnings were issued in the early hours of the morning. Most were issued a flood warning but for 14,000 the order was mandatory.
The flooding began when Coyote Creek, which runs through Silicone Valley from the San Francisco Bay, burst its banks on Tuesday night. It sent dirty water pouring in to the towns below it at frightening pace.
On Wednesday, residents complained that the alert had not been sent out fast enough. Some said their first warning came when they saw neighbors being rescued from their drowning homes by fire fighters in dinghies.

Clashes in Stockholm Suburb Draw Attention to Trump’s Remarks

STOCKHOLM — Residents in a northwestern suburb predominantly inhabited by immigrants have clashed with police officers, two days after President Trump unleashed a vague but pointed critique of Sweden’s migration policies.

About 20 to 30 masked men threw stones and other objects at police officers in the suburb, Rinkeby, after the police arrested a man on suspicion of dealing drugs.                         A police officer fired a warning shot, but the disturbances continued for several more hours, stretching into early Tuesday morning. A photojournalist was injured in the clashes.

The episode drew scrutiny worldwide because of Mr. Trump’s assertions — based on a Fox News segment — that Sweden had experienced a surge in crime and violence as a result of taking in large numbers of refugees. Mr. Trump’s comments were greeted with anger in Sweden, the latest example of strong criticism by the American president antagonizing friendly countries, including neighbors like Mexico and allies like Australia and the European Union.

Swedish officials criticized Mr. Trump’s statements about crime in the country as exaggerations. Preliminary statistics do not show a major increase in crime from 2015, when the country processed a record 163,000 asylum applications, to 2016.             Disturbances like the one in Rinkeby, officials said, are not unprecedented but are infrequent. In 2013, the police shooting of a man wielding a knife led to nights of violence in the suburbs of Stockholm, including Rinkeby.

The clashes intensified, with up to 70 people throwing stones and objects,                       before the police finally got the situation under control around 12:15 a.m., he said.
